Voronin keen to emulate Berbatov
New Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is looking to have the same impact on the Premiership as what Dimitar Berbatov had for Tottenham Hotspur last season.
Voronin played with Berbatov during their time together at Bayer Leverkusen and the Ukrainian international insists that he has not moved to Anfield just to make up the numbers in Rafa Benitez’s squad.
“Berbatov did well and he came from German football, which I would say is similar to England,” said Voronin.
“I have studied English football and think that there are many similarities with the game in Germany. So I hope that arriving here from Bayer Leverkusen will help me.
“I am not just here to make up the numbers - I think one of my biggest qualities is my strength of character.
“I want to start as many games as possible and I think the competition here will help me.”
